Oberammergau & the Bernese Oberland

Over the years relatives and friends have said how much they enjoyed the Oberammergau experience. So now here is your opportunity to experience the Passion Play plus the grandeur of Switzerland I have travelled with Worldwide Christian Travel (Hadler Tours Limited) before and can thoroughly recommend them.

Day l

Home area to Kent coast. Cross to France and continue to an overnight stop in the Reims or Metz area.

Day 2
We continue through France, crossing the border into Germany at Strasbourg, and on via Stuttgart, Augsburg and Landsberg to Oberammergau. Stay for two nights.
Day 3 - The Passion Play
The Play commences at approximately 1430 hrs giving plenty of time to reach the theatre (using the free local transport if required) and locate seats. There is a long break for evening dinner. The Play finishes around 2230 hrs after which we return to our accommodation in the Oberammergau area for overnight
Day 4
Today the coach rejoins the party to journey south and west from Oberammergau, crossing into Austria for a scenic drive from Lermoos to Nassereith via the Fernpass. Continue via St Anton and the Arlberg pass to the tiny state of Liechtenstein, into Switzerland and finally to Thun in the Bernese Oberland for a five night stay.
Day5
Free day to relax and enjoy Thun's lakeside location and mediaeval town centre.
Day 6
A spectacular full day excursion to Interlaken, an elegant resort "between the lakes" of Brienz and Thun. Those who wish to can ascend by mountain railway to Kleine Scheidegg, for
magnificent views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, perhaps continuing to the lofty Jungfraujoch.
Day 7
Whole day at leisure.
Day 8
Another full day excursion, this time to Lucerne, with its beautiful old town. Continue around this spectacular lake, perhaps stopping to ascend Mount Pilatus, and return to Thun via the woodcarvers' workshop at Brienz.

Day 9
Leave Thun today to start the homeward journey, stopping overnight in Reims.
Day 10
Continue to the French coast, cross the Channel and return to home area.

The
Best Western Hotel Freienhofis a 4 star hotel located in the very centre of the medieval town of Thun, on the shores of Lake Thunersee. The hotel is found on the side of the River Aare only a few steps from one of the towns'famous wooden pedestrian bridges and within an easy walk of the many shops, bars and restaurants. Entrance is into a bright, modern reception area, off which is a bar/cafe and the hotel dining room.
